Bienestar Plaza

Bienestar Plaza is a new housing and health hub located in the heart of Live Oak. MidPen’s Bienestar Plaza community includes apartment homes for families, individuals, and people with supportive housing needs. Resident amenities include a community room with a kitchen, a learning center, a multipurpose meeting room, a central courtyard with BBQs and play structures, and a community garden with Native artwork that honors the earliest stewards of the land.

Community Arts and Empowerment was happy to fabricate the mosaics for this project for MidPen Housing. Midpen Representatives had spent a great deal of time in communication with Native leadership in regards to their natural garden and Landscaping. Kathleen was inspired to create artwork that reflected this new relationship to honor the First People in this area. With permission and blessings, she designed three medallions and one seat wall that incorporated the local tribal band and local native plants into the designs.
