Emile Norman Memorial Fountain

The Emile Norman Memorial Fountain was commissioned by the Carmel Art Association, located on Dolores between 5th and 6th in Carmel. The fountain sits prominently in the Art Association’s public-facing gardens.

The designs for the Emil Norman fountain are direct translations from some of his work. The four square panels are derived from nature poems that Emile created near the end of his life in the early 2000’s.  The four narrow panels with the same berry bush design were one of his Christmas card designs from the 1970s.  The face that is spouting water is a translation from one of the two faces that were in Emile’s home hot tub.

Community Arts and Empowerment, as well as the Carmel Art Association, thank the Emile Norman Trust for the opportunity to create this lovely artwork.
