Nature Center at Ramsay Park
The City of Watsonville and Watsonville Wetlands Watch, in partnership with Community Arts & Empowerment, are creating mosaics for the main entrance and pathway of the new Nature Center opening in Ramsay Park in 2025.
The mural and the walkway have distinct stories to tell, but they will relate to each other in color and with design elements. Each design element conveys in a beautiful, visual way the story of human and natural migrations and environmental stewardship of the Pajaro Valley and wetlands, including indigenous stewardship.
The entry mural will welcome ethnically, linguistically, and socioeconomically diverse community members to Watsonville’s new Nature Center with a visual narrative of diversity, inclusion, dignity, community, and resilience.
The pathway project will serve the broader Watsonville community and echo the themes of natural migration and environmental stewardship of the Pajaro Valley and wetlands.
The following images were designed by Priscilla Martinez and will go before the Watsonville Parks and Recreation Arts Commissioners for image approval on October 3rd. If the images are approved, we will begin fabricating the mosaics on October 10th.
